October6, 2023: The Registrar High Court, HW Rosemary Bareebe, encouraged advocates to embrace the use of Information, Communication Technology(ICT), in order to remain updated with the latest trends of the legal profession. This, she said, while presiding over the enrolment ceremony of 134 advocates, on behalf of the Chief Registrar, at the Judiciary Headquarters, Kampala.

"I call upon you to serve people with high level of integrity, trust, consider mentorship and be ICT and new technology compliant."

While addressing the new officers of Court, HW Bareebe emphasized the need for professionalism, ethics and excellence at work for these are values that drive the usual work.

She further reminded them that they owe a duty to themselves, court and the public, something they need to highly respect.

Counsel Isaac Kyagaba, who represented the President Uganda Law Society, said, "as you begin Chapter one of your legal journey as advocates, let ethics, professionalism, and integrity be your guiding stars. Ultimately, your final chapter should echo the famous words of Caesar, "Veni, vidi, vici" – "I came, I saw, I conquered." Strive for excellence, be relentless in your pursuit of knowledge, and let your commitment to justice be unwavering."

The representative of Law Council, Ms Peace Athocon, called for service above self, professionalism and being open to learning.

HW Timothy Lumunye, the Personal Assistant to the Chief Registrar moderated the session.
